Faced with technological advances, the rectorate of the Toulouse academy is deploying an academic strategic plan aimed at integratingartificial intelligence (AI) in school programs. This project, which is deployed in three parts, focuses on the inventory of existing initiatives, the use of AI in professional training and the modernization of administrative processes. With implementation planned for the start of the 2025 school year, the academy wishes to prepare students and staff to face the challenges of tomorrow.
Identification and sharing of existing initiatives
The first part of the strategic plan focuses on taking stock of current practices. Indeed, many teachers across the academy are already exploiting AI as part of their teaching, whether for the creation of exam subjects or to illustrate courses. A investigation recent study revealed around 200 feedbacks on the use of AI, highlighting the importance of structuring and sharing these resources. The objective is to allow teachers to benefit from best practices and to enrich their teaching methods.
Integration of AI into professional training
The second part focuses its attention on the sector of vocational training. Far from being satisfied with tools like ChatGPT, the academy is interested in industrial processes and tertiary sectors using AI. In partnership with companies such as Bosch in Rodez, specific courses will be introduced in voluntary vocational high schools by the start of the 2025 school year. Joseph Gallieni high school in Toulouse is one of the pioneering establishments to integrate AI into programs, particularly in the field of mobility.
Modernization of administrative processes
Administrative modernization represents the third axis of the strategic plan. By integrating AI into its internal processes, the rectorate hopes to optimize tasks such as replacement of teachers. A dedicated application could collect and process the data regarding replacements, thus improving efficiency and responsiveness to expressed needs. Likewise, the implementation of AI in the processing of administrative messages promises to provide rapid responses while retaining a human touch in interactions.
The ethical and educational implications of AI
Although the integration of artificial intelligence holds considerable opportunities, it also raises ethical questions. AI might seem to strip away certain tasks from administrative agents and teachers, however, it is crucial to understand that AI will never replace humans.
