An introduction marked by holography
During this evening, participants were surprised by an innovative presentation of the Mayor’s speech. Thanks to hologram technology, there was not just one mayor present at Castel Park, but two. This visual demonstration was the result of collaboration with Thierry Wilemort of the company SAS Arbob. This feat perfectly illustrates the impact of artificial intelligence on our perception of artistic and political events.
2024 achievements highlighted
In French, Catherine Desprez highlighted the significant achievements of the year 2024. Among them, the opening of a new leisure center and the rehabilitation of the municipal technical center, important steps for the city. She also highlighted road projects, which represent visible transformations for citizens.
However, one of the most moving moments was undoubtedly that of Pink October, an event led by deputy Sylvie Plaire. With 650 participants, this initiative enabled the presentation of a check for 9,000 euros to the League Against Cancer, a gesture welcomed by departmental president Jean-Michel Piot.
Future plans for 2025
For 2025, Surgères plans to finalize ambitious projects. The Poyaud subdivision, whose marketing will begin in September, is one of these notable commitments. In addition, the restructuring of the central kitchen, with an investment of two million euros, is at the top of the budgetary priorities. The restoration of the Renaissance gate to the castle is also on the agenda.
The year will be marked by the census of the current population, to date 7,029 inhabitants, which will provide a more precise outline of the demographic dynamics of the city.
Futuristic projection of the station center
The evening ended on a futuristic note with the screening of a film illustrating the project for the future station center. However, the completion of this project will require the temporary closure of the departmental road in front of the station, causing some logistical inconveniences.
