Governments, international institutions and private sector companies are keenly interested in its potential to improve education systems and prepare students for future challenges. However, this integration also raises questions and concerns about data protection, ethics and fairness. <\/p>\n<h2>International initiatives for the integration of AI in education<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Recently, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) organized an online discussion with the participation of more than 40 ministers to share their policy approaches and plans on how best to integrate these tools in education<\/strong>. At this event, UNESCO presented a roadmap on generative AI and education, including an open multi-stakeholder dialogue. Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, highlighted the importance of taking urgent action to ensure that new AI technologies are integrated into education on our terms. <\/p>\n<h2>Applications of AI in the classroom<\/h2>\n<p>During the 41st AQUOPS conference held in Quebec in April 2023, Vincent L\u00e9cuyer, member of the Google for Education team, presented a conference entitled <strong>Artificial intelligence in the classroom<\/strong>. According to him, the goal of AI is not to replace human knowledge, but to augment it and optimize what we do rather than replacing it. Among the possible applications of AI in education, we can cite: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personalization of learning for each student<\/li>\n<li>Help with diagnosing academic difficulties<\/li>\n<li>The development of adaptive programs that evolve with the needs of students<\/li>\n<li>Improving real-time assessment of acquired skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Digital education and protecting children online<\/h2>\n<p>In an increasingly connected world, protecting children online has become a priority for many parents and education professionals. <strong>ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI, suggests that digital education plays a vital role in preventing risks associated with internet use<\/strong>, including teaching children how to use digital tools responsibly and securely, as well as informing them about potential threats and best practices for protecting themselves online. <\/p>\n<h2>Government initiatives in AI and education<\/h2>\n<p>In the United States, the Biden administration released an updated federal roadmap for AI research and development, called <strong>National strategic plan for R&amp;D in AI<\/strong>, as well as a report from the Department of Education on the risks and opportunities that arise from this rapidly evolving field.
