There Metropolis of Lyon<\/strong> innovates by exploiting the potential of artificial intelligence in the field of green urban planning. In collaboration with the SCOP TelesCoop<\/strong> and the laboratory ofUniversity Lyon 2\/CNRS LIRIS<\/strong>, the project entitled \u00ab\u00a0IA.rbre\u00a0\u00bb was initiated with the aim of creating a environmental decision support platform<\/strong>. This will use thematic layers and experiments to respond to the challenges of climate resilience<\/strong> and strengthen the impact of community greening initiatives.<\/p>\n\n

As part of its commitment to a sustainable future, the M\u00e9tropole de Lyon exploits the potential of artificial intelligence to optimize tree planting. With the IA.rbre project, in collaboration with local partners, Lyon aims to build a decision support platform to respond to the challenges of climate change and improve urban greening. This initiative demonstrates the belief that AI can transform the way local authorities manage and prioritize environmental interventions.<\/p>\n\n

A collaborative project for climate resilience<\/h2>\n\n

The Lyon Metropolis has already committed to planting 300,000 new trees<\/strong>, does not stop there and sees further thanks to a strategy based on artificial intelligence. This ambitious project, called \u00ab\u00a0IA.rbre\u00a0\u00bb, develops a collaboration between Lyon, the SCOP TelesCoop and the LIRIS laboratory of the University of Lyon 2\/CNRS.<\/p>\n\n

AI.rbre objectives<\/h3>\n\n

IA.rbre\u2019s mission is to create a environmental decision support platform<\/strong>. This will be based on thematic layers with high added value, aiming to guide local policy on vegetation, plantability, de-waterproofing and the vulnerability of urban areas. The objective is to provide a mapping of areas suitable for revegetation<\/strong>, to conduct scenario simulations to optimize plantings and inventory the municipalities\u2019 plant heritage.<\/p>\n\n

Optimization and Decision-Making Through AI<\/h2>\n\n

The M\u00e9tropole de Lyon emphasizes the importance of using AI, with the assurance that this technology will bring real added value to public decision-making. By improving data quality and automating information cross-referencing, artificial intelligence contributes to a more in-depth understanding of territories and enables better prioritization of interventions. Expected Progress and Funding<\/strong> Launched as part of the France 2030 program and supported at the national level, the project is funded to the tune of \u20ac2.3 million, including \u20ac1.5 million from the State. Over a three-year period, it plans to create the first layers and historically record data for optimal implementation. Transparency and Controlled Use of AI<\/p>\n\n

The IA.rbre project places great emphasis on ensuring strong guarantees regarding the transparency and robustness of the systems deployed. The M\u00e9tropole strives for frugal and responsible AI, developed in symbiosis with the needs of its territory. The project seeks to strengthen local digital sovereignty through open methods, enabling the controlled use of artificial intelligence.<\/h3>\n\n

An Exemplary Project The President of the M\u00e9tropole de Lyon, Bruno Bernard, welcomed the initiative, highlighting its future impact on urban management.
