According to a recent study, a third of French people perceive AI as both a help and a threat. While some believe that automation through AI could lighten their mental load, others express fears of possible dehumanization and replacement by machines. This duality of perceptions highlights a real divide surrounding this revolutionary technological tool. The use of artificial intelligence in France presents an interesting paradox. Although it is omnipresent in public debates and the media, its integration into professional practices remains limited. According to one study, a third of French people perceive AI as both a valuable aid and a potential threat. This dual perspective on AI highlights crucial issues such as training, support, and generational shifts. This article explores how these perceptions could influence the adoption of AI in everyday life. The Ambivalent Perception of Artificial Intelligence The presence of artificial intelligence in public discussions contrasts sharply with its uneven adoption in the professional world. Although it has been integrated into numerous digital tools, a large proportion of French people still do not use it in their work. Yet, nearly 47% of respondents believe that automation enabled by AI could lighten their mental load. A Generational Gap in Training The generational divide is striking, with greater adoption and training in AI among 18-34 year-olds compared to 50-64 year-olds. Thus, 38% of young people say they have received training on these technologies, compared to only 14% of older people. This contrast highlights the need to develop targeted training policies to avoid a digital skills gap. AI: Stress or Relief?According to the study, 52% of French people do not experience additional stress due to AI, but 28% perceive AI as a source of anxiety. These fears are fueled by several factors, including the fear of dehumanization and replacement by machines. The idea that AI could increase pressure on productivity is also a major concern. The Need for Support With 70% of French people having never received training in generative AI, a portion of the population feels isolated when faced with these new technologies. This isolation heightens concerns about AI adoption, highlighting the importance of active support to facilitate this technological transition. Building AI Adoption in France Despite its promise, AI adoption remains a challenge that requires structure. As Quentin Amaudry, co-founder of Mendo, reveals, “AI adoption doesn’t happen naturally; it’s built.” This calls for the creation of a national training and support policy to bridge the growing digital divide.

Conclusion: A Delicate BalanceThis dual perspective on AI—both as an asset and a threat—highlights the complexity of its integration into society. As AI continues to develop and influence various aspects of daily life, it remains at the heart of a delicate balance between technological advances and social implications.

<div class="kksr-icon" style="width: 24px;
