In an already tense climate, a recently revealed confidential document sheds light on former President Trump\u2019s ambitions for Gaza. Dubbed the GREAT Trust, this ambitious initiative aims to transform the Palestinian enclave into a true technology hub, complete with smart cities and futuristic infrastructure. However, behind this facade of progress lies the forced relocation of millions of residents, raising ethical and legal questions about the fundamental rights of Palestinians in an already complex context. A confidential document, recently published by the Washington Post, sheds light on former President Trump\u2019s bold initiative: to transform Gaza into a modern hub of smart cities. Called the GREAT Trust (Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust), this ambitious plan is generating considerable controversy as it promises prosperity while concealing complex implications for the local population. A high-tech project under a veneer of promises The GREAT Trust project proposes to transform Gaza into a technology and tourism hub. It envisions the construction of six to eight AI cities, incorporating modern housing, commercial areas, and electric vehicle factories. These infrastructures will also be accompanied by data centers and luxury tourism facilities, including the flagship project, \u00ab\u00a0Gaza Trump Riviera & Islands.\u00a0\u00bb Trump\u2019s ambitions also extend to the creation of an \u00ab\u00a0Elon Musk Smart Manufacturing Zone\u00a0\u00bb and a highway named \u00ab\u00a0MBS,\u00a0\u00bb paying tribute to Mohammed bin Salman. The investments required to make this vision a reality are considerable, estimated at $100 billion in public and private funds, with notable contributions from Saudi Arabia, but a lack of direct support from the US administration.<\/strong> The Consequences of a Brutal Transformation Despite promises of prosperity, the relocation of nearly two million Gaza residents is the most controversial aspect of the plan. The<\/strong>GREAT Trust proposes two scenarios: the first invites 25% of the population to voluntarily emigrate to Egypt or Jordan, accompanied by financial compensation of<\/strong>$5,000 and one year of support. The second scenario requires a<\/strong> recommissioning of the population to secure areas during construction, promising digital tokens in exchange for apartments in the future smart hub.<\/strong> According to projections, up to 75%<\/strong> of the relocated population may never return, which could completely redefine Palestinian demographics.<\/p>\n\n

A Vision at Odds with International Law This transformation plan is not without its critics. Adil Haque, a lawyer specializing in armed conflict, emphasizes that any strategy that prevents Palestinians from returning to their homes or fails to guarantee a decent standard of living violates international law. Philip Grant, a member of Trial International, considers the project to be nothing more than a \u00ab\u00a0mass deportation plan disguised as development.\u00a0\u00bb The urgent concerns surrounding this project should prompt us to call for a ceasefire before any other initiative.<\/strong>A unanimous response from Arab nations The reaction from countries in the region is unequivocal: Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia have expressed their disapproval of the project, advocating for the reconstruction of Gaza without forced displacement of the population. Egypt has even proposed an alternative plan, costing USD 53 billion, aimed at restoring Gaza while guaranteeing Palestinian dignity. Institutions like the UN and experts, such as Fran\u00e7oise Bouchet-Saulnier, go even further by describing the plan as an incentive for a<\/strong>crime against humanity. Resistance to this vision is also being voiced by<\/strong> Hamas<\/p>\n\n
