The École Normale Supérieure in Paris, an iconic institution of the French academic elite, recently opened a groundbreaking laboratory dedicated to the study of artificial intelligence (AI). With a team of 70 faculty members from diverse disciplines, this innovative center, named « Normalesup.ai, » aims to anticipate and shape future technological advancements in AI. This ambitious project extends beyond technological research to encompass a broader political framework, addressing the crucial issue of European data sovereignty. In collaboration with companies and deep tech startups, the laboratory intends to play a key role in the evolution of AI, thereby strengthening interdisciplinarity and innovation at the heart of the institution. Normale-Sup, one of France’s most prestigious academic institutions, inaugurated a new laboratory dedicated to artificial intelligence on January 28. Located in Paris, this laboratory brings together 70 teacher-researchers from various disciplines, such as mathematical sciences and linguistics. Anne Bouverot, Chair of the Board of Directors of ENS-PSL, affirms that this project addresses the need to strengthen data sovereignty in Europe. This laboratory also supports entrepreneurial initiatives in collaboration with companies and startups specializing in deep tech.
